Executive Assistant

Executive assistants typically work closely with one executive or small upper-level management team in a hospital, clinic, or other healthcare facility. Like an administrative assistant, executive assistants are responsible for a variety of administrative tasks. However, the education, skills, and experience required to be an executive assistant are typically narrower to fit specialized day-to-day tasks. These healthcare professionals work with highly sensitive information and are entrusted to manage critical tasks for a medical center’s leadership.

Job Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute events
  • Organize executive-level meetings and occasionally attend them on an executive’s behalf
  • Assemble materials for meetings
  • Manage an executive’s calendar
  • Sort documents and records
  • Answer phones and take messages
  • Prepare reports
  • Schedule appointments for an executive
  • Research information

Qualifications and Skills

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • Associate degree in a related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience as an administrative assistant or in a similar role
  • Proficiency with word processing software
