Dermatology Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) – Medical Dermatology

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with experience in medical dermatology to join our growing rural health dermatology practice. This role is ideal for a provider who values meaningful patient relationships, continuity of care, and improving access to dermatologic services in underserved communities.

The provider will diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of medically necessary skin conditions while working collaboratively with supervising physicians. This position focuses exclusively on clinical dermatology, emphasizing evidence?based care, patient education, and community impact.

Key Responsibilities

<ul>
	<li>Perform comprehensive dermatologic evaluations, including detailed histories and full?body skin examinations.
	<li>Diagnose and manage common and chronic dermatologic conditions (acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, dermatitis, fungal infections, rashes, etc.).
	<li>Identify and treat precancerous and cancerous lesions (AK, BCC, SCC, melanoma) within scope of practice.
	<li>Perform medical dermatology procedures including:
	<ul>
		<li>Shave, punch, and excisional biopsies
		<li>Cryotherapy
		<li>Lesion removal
		<li>Wound care and post-procedure management
	</ul>
	
	<li>Order, review, and interpret dermatopathology and diagnostic tests.
	<li>Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
	<li>Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with licensure and clinical guidelines.
	<li>Provide patient-centered education on skin health, disease prevention, and treatment expectations.
	<li>Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the EMR.
	<li>Uphold all regulatory, clinical, and HIPAA standards.
	<li>Participate in ongoing professional development and dermatology?specific continuing education.

Qualifications

Required

<ul>
	<li>Master’s degree from an accredited NP or PA program.
	<li>Current NP or PA license in North Carolina.
	<li>National certification (AANP/ANCC for NP; NCCPA for PA).
	<li>Strong diagnostic reasoning and procedural skills.
	<li>Excellent communication and patient?education abilities.
	<li>Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast?paced clinical setting.
</ul>

Preferred

<ul>
	<li>Dermatology certification (e.g., DCNP for NPs or equivalent dermatology-focused certification for PAs) or willingness to pursue certification after hire.
	<li>Experience performing dermatologic procedures (biopsies, cryotherapy, lesion removal, etc.)
	<li>Familiarity with dermatoscopy and EMR systems.
	<li>Commitment to rural health, access-to-care initiatives, and long-term patient relationships.

Direct Hire - Ambulatory / Outpatient

$140,000 - $160,000/yr
